Irish Sea Stories
Irish Sea Stories
These stories are a selection of a large body of emerging material focused on the lives, past, present and future, of the port communities of the Irish Sea basin. They see the ports as participating in an environs that stretches across the coast, joining them with neighbouring communities across the sea and along the coast. Their diversity is a testament to the variety of experiences required to bring the histories and stories of coastal communities to life.
For more themed collections, you can view a cluster on each of the ports:
Dublin Port
Rosslare
Holyhead
Fishguard
Pembroke Dock
The crises captured in these stories touch upon the vulnerability of several intersecting systems: shipping, mail and communication, freight, the movement of people, economics, ideas, and the shifting of political phenomena such as Brexit and the disruptions of Covid-19.
