Green on Red Gallery

Located down a quiet side street just a short walk from the Liffey, Green On Red Gallery is a treasure trove of contemporary Irish and international art from established and emerging artists.

Established in Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2, in 1992 by Jerome O Drisceoil, Green On Red Gallery has been in its current location on Park Lane in Spencer Dock, Dublin 1, since 2014 and is open to the public during the week and by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays. As director of the gallery since its inception, Jerome is committed to showcasing contemporary art in all media and to supporting and growing the careers of its 15-20 artists, a number of whom have represented their country at international Biennali.

The expansive gallery space has hosted multiple solo exhibitions by all its gallery artists, intercut with group, curated or thematic exhibitions like Clamour Kyiv-Dublin (2023), an exhibition of 5 Ukrainian, + invited artists, in support of our neighbours at war. Refuge ( 2021 ) exhibited the work of artists in Ireland and abroad responding to or experiencing exile. Artists included Mona Hatoum, Anne Tallentire, Vukašin Nedeljkovič/Asylum Archive, Nil Yalter, Tom Hunter, Bassam Al-Sabah and others.

Screentime ( 2019 ) was one of Ireland’s first commercial art gallery exhibitions focusing on art and gaming/digital media. The exhibition was invited to Berlin by Transmediale Festival of Art and Digital Culture in 2022. In May 2023, Green on Red featured BioTrace, Aoife Shanahan’s inaugural solo exhibition of new photographs, photograms and a photography installation. In addition to exhibitions, Green on Red regularly hosts artist-in-conversation events at the gallery, recently featuring Aoife Shanahan in conversation with Philanthropist and Photography Collector, Dr. David Kronn.

Green On Red Gallery participates in international Art Fairs like the recent Art Düsseldorf, the forthcoming The Armory Show, New York and, in the past, Vienna Contemporary, Art Brussels, NADA, Miami and Art Basel, Miami and Basel art fairs, among others. Situated in Dublin’s Docklands, Green On Red Gallery offers a glimpse of the vibrant creative activity taking place within the port area. In addition to showcasing an exciting portfolio of Irish and international artists, the gallery space itself is a site of activity, with launches and events taking place regularly.
