Hazelwood Stables

Located just ten minutes from the beach, Hazelwood Stables is set in an idyllic location in the quiet countryside of Ballycronnigan, Kilrane, County Wexford. In addition to delivering regular and occasional lessons to the locals and visitors alike, Sabrina Slattery and her dedicated team run a series of occasional seasonal events, including beach treks and pony camps for people of all abilities, ranging from those trying out horse-riding for the first time to seasoned riders.

Open since 2016, and with a current team of 10 ponies of all energy-levels and temperaments, there’s the perfect horse for every rider! Each pony has their own profile showcasing their personalities on Hazelwood Stables’ website: make sure to check out Dory with his spotty butt, Matilda with her pristine coat and Blue, who is fond of munching on flowers! You’re also likely to encounter some other farmyard animals around the stables, including Bubbles, a cheeky and curious goat with lots of personality!

During the summer months, Sabrina and her team run Summer Pony Camps, where children take care of their own pony over the course of a week. Pony Camps include rides twice a day, beach treks, grooming, feeding and tack up, and no end of fun – it’s an excellent start to horse-riding. Visitors Beach Rides take place during the summer on Tuesday-Friday mornings, Saturday afternoons, and Sundays on request. These popular excursions are open to everyone – no prior experience required – and allow visitors to explore the stunning south-east coastline while enjoying the unique experience of horse-riding on the beach, and even through the sea!
