Dublin Dockers Through the Years

A photo exhibit of daily life on the Dublin docks

The Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society was set up in early 2011. The group is made up of ex-dock workers and people interested in preserving the industrial history of Dublin Docks and the rich history of the dockland communities.

The Dublin Dockers started by collecting old photographs and are delighted to report that our collection has broken through the 4,000 mark. In addition, people have donated over 6,000 documents which we have passed on to Dublin City Council. Most of our photos can be found on our Facebook page, ‘Dublin Dockers’.

If you wish to join our merry band or donate photographs you should contact Alan Martin +353 872095974 or Declan Byrne +353 868138618.

One of our founders, Jimmy Carthy, inspired us to not lose hope and keep fighting on until we realise our dream. Jimmy passed away on the 28th February 2017. So the struggle continues - the unique history of Dublin Docks needs to be told and preserved and we intend to give it 110%.
