In the just over 200 years of its existence, Pembroke Dock has had a proud history of building hundrets of ships, large and not so large, motorised and propelled by wind. Although the dockyard has been closed now for several decades, ships still get built, but now on a much smaller scale. The attention to detail and appreciation of fine engineering remains the same.

David James sat down with Ports, Past and Present to share the origin of his passion for building model ships, the ships he has built over the years and where some of his finished works can be seen on public display.

Ers ei sefydlu ychydig dros 200 o flynyddoedd yn ôl, bu gan Ddoc Penfro hanes balch o adeiladu cannoedd o longau, yn rhai mawr a heb fod mor fawr, gyda modur a rhai a yrrwyd gan y gwynt.  Er bod yr iard longau wedi cau ers sawl degawd bellach, caiff llongau eu hadeiladu o hyd, ond ar raddfa llawer llai.  Mae'r sylw a roddir i'r manylion a'r gwerthfawrogiad o beirianneg gain yr un fath.

Bu David James yn rhannu tarddiad ei hoffter o adeiladu modelau llongau, y llongau y mae wedi eu hadeiladu dros y blynyddoedd, a'r mannau cyhoeddus lle y mae modd gweld rhai o'i weithiau gorffenedig, gyda Phorthladdoedd, Ddoe a Heddiw.
